PTA Job Overview
PTAs carry out their jobs beneath the supervising and instruction of a certified PT. PTs rely greatly on their Physical therapist assistants, so it's important that a Physical therapy assistant can offer patients a comprehensive plan of physical therapy activities. PT assistants apply many physical therapy techniques while caring for clients. Some methods include deep soft tissue massage, therapeutic exercise, physical modalities such as ultrasound and electro therapy as well as functional exercises.
Additionally PT assistants often assist their clients to prevent losing mobility by applying wellness and fitness workouts for more active healthy life styles. When a Physical therapy assistant examines a patient initially, they help the physical therapist study the individual and develop a care plan encouraging recovered functions, the ability to move, preventing impairment and reducing suffering. Then, as a team, the physical therapist, PTA, and patient all work together to ensure the goal of the therapy program is attained, measuring client progress, response, and well-being while making modifications as necessary.
