Physical therapist assistants perform their functions underneath the supervision and direction of a licensed physical therapist. PT assistants apply many physical therapy techniques when caring for patients. Several techniques include deep soft tissue massage, exercise therapy, physical modalities particularly ultrasound and electro-therapy as well as functional exercises.
Additionally PT assistants usually assist their clients to prevent losing mobility by creating wellness and physical fitness routines for more active lifestyles. When a Physical therapy assistant sees an individual initially, they help the physical therapist analyze the individual and create a care plan promoting repaired functionality, the ability to move, protecting against disability and reducing pain. Then, together, the PT, Physical therapist assistant, and individual all work collectively to ensure the goals of the health plan is reached, calculating client progress, healing, and safety even while making modifications as required.
